Controversial Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha, and his wife, celebrity fashion designer Anjy Luminee, have announced the birth of their baby boy, King Kagar Omiyinka.

The couple went public with the news on Monday, June 15, 2026, sharing glamorous maternity photos and emotionally charged captions. While the actor praised his wife as his "strong Jagaban," Luminee reciprocated by calling Baba Ijesha her "one in a million" with a "pure heart."

However, the joyful announcement quickly divided Nigerian social media platforms into fierce debates regarding the actor's past legal history and the timing of the conception.

“In quiet ways, in unseen ways, God has been writing a story only He could tell... God gave me more than I prayed for. My ever beautiful wife, strong Jagaban... who became the mother of my son,” Baba Ijesha posted.

The intense internet backlash comes directly from Baba Ijesha’s 2022 high-profile conviction for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old minor. While the actor was ultimately released from prison in November 2025 after his conviction was overturned by the Court of Appeal, many Nigerians remain deeply unsettled by his return to public life and domestic normalcy.

High-profile personalities like reality star Angel Smith openly questioned the designer's choice to remain with and have a child with the actor given his history, while prominent social commentator Daniel Regha argued that the situation warranted a divorce rather than a public celebration. Dozens of everyday netizens have also pointed directly to Baba Ijesha's November 2025 prison release date, raising eyebrows and questioning the exact conception timeline.

Conversely, the couple has received a flood of warm prayers and goodwill messages from a supportive faction of Nollywood peers, including actors Yomi Fabiyi and Olayinka Solomon, who maintained that the arrival of an innocent newborn should be celebrated regardless of past controversies. However, the tension remains so high that stars like Moyo Lawal and Bobrisky faced swift, severe backlash from their own followers simply for typing "congratulations" under the couple's maternity posts.

What are your thoughts on Baba Ijesha and Luminee’s baby announcement? Do you believe the public should separate an innocent newborn from the father's controversial past, or is the online outrage justified? Please share your comments below!
