“Unity First” — Bayo Adelabu Drops 2027 Oyo Governorship Ambition, Calls for Party Reconciliation

Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has formally announced the end of his ambition to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

Adelabu, who was the APC governorship candidate in 2019 and contested under the Accord Party in 2023, emphasized that persistent internal divisions, factionalism, and unresolved grievances have hindered the party's success in recent election cycles in Oyo State. He urged party leaders, elders, and members across the 33 local government areas to put aside past animosities and work toward building a formidable, united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to reports covering the announcement, Adelabu reaffirmed his commitment to his primary assignment as Minister of Power under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration while taking an active role in peacebuilding initiatives to harmonize all aggrieved groups within the Oyo APC.
