“He Took Money From the Poor and Gave to Governors” — Dino Melaye Accuses Tinubu Administration of Mismanaging National Wealth

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has launched a fierce critique against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing his administration of enriching state governors at the expense of ordinary citizens through current economic policies. Speaking during a recent media appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain alleged that the federal government's economic reforms have plunged millions of Nigerians into severe financial hardship while inflating revenue allocations to state executives.
Melaye argued that while fuel subsidy removal and floating of the Naira significantly increased funds distributed by the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to governors, the increased revenue has failed to translate into visible development, poverty reduction, or relief for citizens across the states.

“What President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done is simply taking money from the pockets of struggling Nigerians and handing it over to state governors. FAAC allocations have doubled and tripled, but where is the impact on the ground? The average Nigerian is poorer today while governors are receiving unprecedented billions with zero accountability.”

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Melaye urged opposition leaders and citizens to unite against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that sustained economic hardship demands a coordinated political response to restore accountability and good governance across the country.
