Lagos State, Cult Violence, Two Killed, Ojo Community

Two men suspected to be cult members have been shot dead in a fresh outbreak of cult-related violence in the Ojo area of Lagos State, police and local sources say. The victims, identified only as Monday and Efe, were found with gunshot wounds on Sunday at separate locations in the community.

An anonymous source described the killings as a reprisal attack by rival cult groups, with one of the men said to have been a former leader of the Neo Black Movement in the Alaba International Market area. Another victim was reportedly attacked while charging his phone during a power outage.

Police later evacuated the bodies, but as of Monday morning the Lagos State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.

Cult-related violence has been an ongoing security challenge in parts of Lagos, despite efforts by authorities to curb the activities of rival confraternities and gangs.
