The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to construct more modern bus terminals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of efforts to boost public transportation infrastructure and reduce congestion in the nation’s capital.
According to a senior official, the new terminals will be equipped with enhanced facilities to improve commuter experience, support traffic management and provide safer, more organised transit hubs for residents and visitors.
Officials said the expansion project aims to decongest existing terminals, support economic activities and promote a more efficient mass transit system. The move is also expected to boost job creation and attract investment into transport services across the FCT.
Authorities emphasised that the terminals will be built according to modern standards and will integrate with ongoing urban development plans for Abuja.
The project reflects the government’s broader commitment to upgrading critical infrastructure and addressing the challenges of rapid urbanisation in the capital city.
