"They Cheated": Portable Alleges Carter Efe’s Victory Was Scripted to Avoid N23bn Payout

Portable has rejected the outcome of his celebrity boxing match against streamer Carter Efe, claiming the fight was rigged by organizers to avoid a massive financial loss. Speaking in a viral Instagram video the singer alleged that the match was scripted because a victory for him would have forced bookmakers to pay out an estimated N23 billion to bettors who backed his win. Portable insisted that since he was the favorite, the organizers intentionally crowned Carter Efe to protect their interests and "evade" the staggering payout.

The match, titled "Chaos in the Ring 4," took place on Friday, May 1, at the Balmoral Hall in Lagos, where judges scored the bout 30–27 in favor of Carter Efe. Despite the loss, Portable revealed that he had already secured a significant payday, claiming he received N40 million as an appearance fee and an additional N5 million for promotional posts prior to the fight. He argued that the referee was biased and failed to count his punches, while also complaining that Carter Efe's height and "long hands" were used unfairly to stifle his aggressive style.

Beyond the allegations of rigging, Portable used the opportunity to taunt fellow celebrities who had mocked his defeat on social media. Having previously defeated Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington in 2025. "I make Nigeria boxing big by originating celebrity fights," he stated, adding that while he lost the belt, he received a greater blessing in the birth of his new son on the same day.

Organizers and sponsors have moved forward with the official result, with socialite E-Money confirming that the N50 million winner's prize has been paid to Carter Efe. While Carter Efe has described the victory as "easy peasy" and attributed his success to faith and discipline, Portable continues to demand a rematch and a cut of the streaming revenues, which he estimates at N200 million.

Do you believe Portable's claims of a scripted finish to avoid a multibillion-naira betting payout, or is this just another case of the singer refusing to accept a fair defeat? Share your comments below!
