Rivers APC Suspends Fubara Dagogo

Recent reports from Friday, March 27, 2026, clarify that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has suspended a prominent party chieftain named Fubara Dagogo. The suspension was carried out by the leadership of Ward 4 in the New Layout area of Bonny Local Government Area.
The move follows allegations of gross misconduct and "anti-party activities" leveled against Dagogo. Specifically, the ward executive committee cited his decision to take legal action against the APC in an attempt to halt the party's National Convention in Abuja. Dagogo had approached a Federal High Court, alleging that he was unfairly excluded from contesting the position of National Vice-Chairman (South-South) despite having paid N5.1 million for the nomination form.
While Governor Siminalayi Fubara—who defected from the PDP to the APC in December 2025—has faced his own share of political turbulence, including a recently halted impeachment process in February 2026, he remains in good standing with the party leadership. This latest disciplinary action is strictly directed at the Bonny-based chieftain for breaching Article 21.2 of the APC Constitution.
The suspension is indefinite and takes effect immediately, with the ward leadership calling on the state secretariat to uphold the resolution.
Do you think political parties should have the power to suspend members for seeking legal redress in court, or does this undermine the judicial rights of party members? Share your comments below!
