President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed heartfelt condolences to the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
In an official statement issued on Monday, September 7, President Tinubu paid tribute to the late Hafidh Ameir Hassan, describing him as a devoted spouse who stood quietly alongside President Samia for nearly five decades throughout her career of public service to Tanzania. He emphasized that the bond between African nations becomes even more vital during moments of deep personal grief.

“I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of my dear sister and colleague... For almost five decades, he stood quietly beside her, through every season of her service to Tanzania. A companionship of that depth becomes part of who a person is. To lose it is to lose a portion of oneself, and I feel for her deeply.”
— President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Tinubu acknowledged the heavy emotional toll on President Samia, stating that she has lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, and the family one of its core pillars.
