PDP BoT, Resolve Internal Crisis

The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party has formed a six-member reconciliation committee to address internal disputes and restore unity before the party’s national convention scheduled for 15–16 November in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The decision followed an emergency BoT meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. The committee, chaired by Ambassador Hassan Adamu with Chief Mike Oghiadomhe as secretary, is expected to submit its report by 11 November.

In a communiqué signed by BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, the board reaffirmed support for the Ambassador Iliya Damagum-led National Working Committee and praised party organs for stabilising the PDP despite recent tensions. It also welcomed the Oyo State High Court ruling that affirmed the PDP’s right to conduct its convention as planned.

The move comes amid renewed crisis, including the recent takeover of the national secretariat by loyalists of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Meanwhile, Damagum has notified INEC of the suspension of Senator Samuel Anyanwu and four others over alleged anti-party activities.

The BoT said reconciliation will prioritise dialogue, adding that unity remains essential to the party’s future.
