Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially sacked the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Olanike Adeyemo, as part of a major cabinet reshuffle. The announcement was made on Monday through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Culture, Prince Dotun Oyelade. According to the state government, this decision helps to reorganize the administration and improve the delivery of services to the people of Oyo State. The Governor thanked the outgoing SSG for her service to the state and wished her well in her future endeavors.
In addition to the sack of the SSG, the Governor also announced the dissolution of some other boards and agencies within the state. This indicates that more changes are likely coming as the Governor seeks to align his team with his current vision for the state. The administration has emphasized that these steps are necessary to ensure that only those who are fully ready to work at a high pace remain in the cabinet.
Professor Olanike Adeyemo was appointed as the SSG in 2023 and has been a key figure in the Makinde administration until this recent development. As a respected academic and professional, her exit marks a significant shift in the state's executive council. The Governor is expected to announce a replacement soon to ensure that government business continues without any delay. For now, the focus remains on how these new changes will affect the governance and political landscape of Oyo State in the coming months.
