Atiku Camp Says ADC, Not PDP, Is the Way Forward for 2027

Supporters and aides of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar have declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rather than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), represents the best route for political success in the 2027 general election. The statement from Atiku’s camp follows his departure from the PDP and signals a strategic shift in how his team believes a credible opposition movement can be built against the ruling All Progressives Congress

According to statements attributed to Atiku’s supporters, the decision to foreground the ADC is driven by a belief that the traditional PDP structure has become weakened by internal disputes, factionalism and repeated electoral setbacks. They argue that joining the ADC coalition offers a clearer path to unity among diverse opposition forces, and holds potential to consolidate voters who are dissatisfied with the governing APC and fragmented opposition parties. The camp says this approach could enhance competitiveness and present a stronger alternative to the ruling party in 2027.

What do you think about the shift toward ADC as the primary pathway for opposition unity and competitiveness in 2027, and should traditional parties like the PDP be central to electoral strategy? Comment below and share your thoughts.
