The African Democratic Congress in Ogun State have forwarded an official petition to the party's National Working Committee in Abuja. The party members are calling for an immediate and thorough investigation into serious allegations of financial misconduct and high-handedness against the leadership of the state chapter. The petition, which was made public on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, details several internal grievances that have caused deep divisions within the opposition party in the state.
According to the petition, the state leadership is being accused of running the political platform like a personal business without carrying other key executives along in major decision-making processes. They alleged that party funds and resources meant for grassroots mobilization and administrative running costs have been completely mismanaged over a period of time. They stated that this lack of transparency and total abuse of office could severely damage the party's image and fortunes ahead of future elections if the national body fails to intervene quickly.
The petitioners explicitly urged the NWC to set up an independent panel to probe the financial records of the Ogun State chapter and restore internal democracy. They warned that many loyal members are already getting frustrated by the current situation, which is threatening the overall unity and peace of the party. As at the time of filing this report, the national leadership of the party is yet to issue an official statement regarding the receipt of the petition or the next steps it intends to take.
