The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has called for increased investment in the health and well-being of women and children in Nigeria.

Adeyeye emphasised that stronger commitment and funding are essential to protect vulnerable groups and improve maternal and child health outcomes across the country.

She noted that prioritising the welfare of women and children would strengthen public health systems and contribute to sustainable national development. The NAFDAC boss stressed that improved healthcare access, nutrition and safe medicines remain critical to safeguarding mothers and children.

Adeyeye also highlighted the importance of partnerships among government agencies, civil society organisations and the private sector in advancing initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women and children.

According to her, such collaboration will help promote safe motherhood, enhance child nutrition and ensure access to quality medicines while combating the circulation of substandard and falsified medical products.

She reiterated NAFDAC’s commitment to programmes that support maternal, newborn and child health, noting that protecting women and children remains central to the agency’s public health mandate.
