The Labour Party has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful despite current challenges, urging citizens to embrace faith, unity and a sense of shared responsibility as Christians celebrate Easter.
The party’s Interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, made the appeal in an Easter message titled “Let Us Not Despair.” She also urged leaders at all levels to intensify efforts to ease the hardship faced by many Nigerians.
Usman encouraged citizens not to lose faith in the country’s future, drawing a parallel with the disciples’ belief in Christ’s resurrection. She noted that Nigerians must remain resolute in their hope for a better nation, even in difficult times.
She further called on both leaders and citizens to reflect on the state of the country and recognise their individual roles in building a more just and united society. According to her, while leadership must provide direction, citizens must also uphold values such as integrity, diligence and patriotism.
Highlighting the significance of Easter, Usman said the season reinforces the importance of hope, resilience and sacrifice. She urged Nigerians to embody these virtues as they navigate present realities.
Extending her goodwill to Christians, she described Easter as a celebration of Christ’s resurrection and a reminder of the core values of Christianity, including faith, forgiveness and selflessness.
Usman added that Christ’s example, particularly His willingness to forgive even in suffering, should inspire Nigerians to remain steadfast and committed to national progress.
