Kidnappers holding worshippers abducted in Kwara State have reportedly reduced their ransom demand to ₦150 million, raising cautious hope among affected families and community members.
The victims, members of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), were abducted during a church activity in Omugo community, Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Initial demands by the abductors were said to be significantly higher, reportedly reaching as much as ₦1 billion before negotiations led to a reduction to ₦150 million.
Despite the reduction, the new demand remains far beyond what the families and the local community can afford, intensifying calls for urgent government and security intervention to secure the victims’ release.
Community leaders have continued to express deep concern over the safety of the abducted individuals, urging authorities to step up rescue efforts and increase security presence in vulnerable areas.
The incident has further heightened fears in the region, where residents say kidnapping and ransom demands are becoming increasingly common, disrupting daily life and religious activities.
