Gunmen Kill Eight in Fresh Plateau Attack, Mostly From Same Family

At least eight people have been killed in a fresh attack by gunmen in Plateau State, with most of the victims reportedly belonging to the same family.

The incident occurred on Thursday night in Mbwelle village, Bokkos Local Government Area, when the assailants invaded the community and opened fire on residents.

Among those killed were Elder Iliya Mangut Dakus, Luck Titus Dakus, Habila Istifanu Dakus, Hassan Istifanus Dakus, Mrs Hassan Moses Dakus, Biggie Lucky Dakus, Sunday Gideon Dakus, and Innocent Barnabas Makwin.

The Chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos LGA, Kefas Mallai, confirmed the attack, stating that the gunmen struck at about 11pm, shooting indiscriminately and leaving additional victims injured, while some residents remain unaccounted for.

The latest violence has heightened concerns over recurring attacks in Plateau communities, where residents continue to face security challenges linked to armed groups operating in the region.
