Iran Targets Kurdish Groups in Iraq as Middle East Conflict Widens

Iran has carried out strikes against Kurdish opposition groups based in northern Iraq, as the conflict linked to the ongoing US-Israel-Iran war spreads across the region.
According to Iranian authorities, the attacks targeted Kurdish groups in Iraq that Tehran described as “separatist groups opposed to the revolution.” The strikes followed warnings from Iranian officials against groups they accuse of planning operations against Iran from Iraqi territory.
Reports indicated that the attacks killed at least one member of an exiled Iranian Kurdish organisation, while Iran said the action was intended to prevent fighters from infiltrating across its western borders.
The development comes as the regional conflict continues to escalate after joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which reportedly killed Iran’s supreme leader and triggered retaliatory attacks across the Middle East.
Iran has since launched strikes targeting locations across the region, including Gulf countries hosting US military bases, while Israel has expanded operations near its borders, raising fears of a wider regional war.
