The United States State Department has ordered all non‑emergency U.S. government personnel and family members to depart Bahrain, Jordan and Iraq as security concerns mount amid the widening Middle East conflict following strikes between the U.S., Israel and Iran.

In a series of posts on social media platform X, the State Department said it had updated travel advisories for Bahrain and Jordan to reflect the ordered departure of non‑emergency staff and their relatives. For Iraq, officials said on Monday that non‑emergency U.S. government workers had been told to leave the country due to security concerns, though relatives were not specifically mentioned.

The move comes as Iran has launched retaliatory attacks following joint U.S. and Israeli strikes, heightening fears of further escalation in the region. In Bahrain, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards reported targeting a U.S. air base, and in Jordan the U.S. embassy was temporarily evacuated amid an unspecified threat.

The situation has also triggered closures and temporary shutdowns at several U.S. diplomatic missions in the Middle East, including in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, as authorities urge American citizens to shelter in place and avoid embassies until further notice.

This directive reflects growing concerns for the safety of diplomatic personnel in the Gulf and broader Middle East region, where tensions have surged following recent military actions.
