Dakuku Peterside, former Director‑General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has called on the Federal Government to make business processes re‑engineering a national policy to unlock economic growth and boost productivity.

Speaking at the maiden International Conference of the Department of Business Administration at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in Port Harcourt, Peterside said that re‑engineering governance and commercial processes could help eliminate bottlenecks that hinder production, create jobs and drive economic expansion.

Peterside emphasised that Nigeria’s wealth in resources such as crude oil and a large population is not sufficient on its own; how the nation organises, produces and delivers services determines its growth potential. He argued that seamless access to incentives for investors and entrepreneurs should be a priority for government policy.

Describing business re‑engineering as a “disciplined response to our current reality”, he said adopting it at both firm and national levels would strengthen companies, expand employment, improve public services and attract investments, leading to a more inclusive economic future.
