Alumni of Edo College, Benin City, have executed a multimillion-naira infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving learning conditions and restoring the institution’s standards.
The intervention, spearheaded by a set of old students, involved the development and rehabilitation of key facilities within the school, as part of efforts to give back to their alma mater.
According to reports, the project reflects a growing commitment among alumni groups to support educational development through direct investment in infrastructure. The initiative is expected to enhance both the academic environment and overall student experience.
The contributors noted that the upgrade was necessary to address gaps in facilities and ensure the school remains competitive and conducive for teaching and learning.
Education stakeholders have continued to emphasise the importance of alumni participation in school development, particularly in complementing government efforts to maintain and upgrade public institutions.
The Edo College intervention adds to a broader trend of alumni-driven projects across Nigeria, where former students are increasingly playing a key role in improving infrastructure, supporting academic excellence, and preserving the legacy of their institutions.
