Ebonyi Man Arraigned for Allegedly Killing Mother in Shocking Domestic Incident

A 30-year-old man has been arraigned before a Magistrate’s court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, for allegedly killing his mother.
The suspect, identified as Oforbuike Damian, is facing a one-count charge bordering on murder following the incident, which reportedly occurred on March 19, 2026, in Ohatekwe village, Ukawu community, in Onicha Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police prosecutor, David Njoku, the defendant allegedly caused the death of his mother, Mrs Onyema Damian, by stabbing her in the back with a knife.
The prosecution told the court that the offence is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 33 Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State, 2009.
During proceedings, the defendant, who had no legal representation, reportedly admitted to committing the act, stating that he carried it out following a dispute with his mother.
The case has been adjourned as legal processes continue, with authorities expected to pursue prosecution in line with the law.
