Apprentice, Accomplice Charged with Murder of Employer in Anambra

An apprentice and his alleged accomplice have been arraigned before a court in Anambra State over the killing of a trader, Ikechukwu Nwite, in Onitsha.
The prime suspect, identified as Chiemerie Anieke, was accused of killing his employer with a pestle during an altercation that occurred on February 16 in the Fegge area of Onitsha.
According to police findings, the incident followed a dispute between the apprentice and his employer, which escalated into violence. The suspect allegedly struck the victim, leading to his death.
Authorities also revealed that an accomplice was involved in the crime, prompting the arraignment of both individuals as part of ongoing legal proceedings.
The case has drawn attention to issues surrounding apprentice–employer relationships within informal trade systems, particularly in commercial hubs like Onitsha.
The defendants are expected to face prosecution as investigations continue, with law enforcement authorities assuring the public that justice will be pursued in the matter.
