Bruno Fernandes Left Out of Portugal’s Norway Clash Due to Ongoing Injury Concern

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been ruled out of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Norway as head coach Jorge Jesus opted to manage the midfielder's recovery workload.
The 32-year-old midfielder played nearly the entire match during Portugal's 1-0 victory over Wales before being replaced by João Neves in stoppage time. Following the match, Jorge Jesus confirmed that Fernandes has been carrying a "complicated" physical issue for the past three matches at club and international level, which ultimately restricted his impact on the pitch.

He told me he's been playing with that pain for the last three games, which is hindering him. I've already spoken to him and I prefer not to risk it in this game so he's fully fit for the Denmark match.”

Fernandes was completely left off Portugal's official 23-man matchday squad submitted to UEFA for the match in Oslo. The national team medical staff aims to have him fully restored for Portugal’s next fixture against Denmark, while Manchester United expect him back in contention for their Premier League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.
