Arteta Drops Fitness Boost on Guimaraes Ahead of Aston Villa Test

Arsenal could have a timely boost in midfield for their Premier League trip to face Aston Villa on Monday, with manager Mikel Arteta hinting that Bruno Guimaraes is nearing a return to the matchday squad.
The Brazilian played a part in Arsenal's Community Shield rout of Manchester City but sat out the season-opening league fixture against Coventry. Speaking to reporters this week, Arteta confirmed the midfielder has been training and is "potentially available," though his workload is being carefully managed in the build-up to Monday's game.
There was better news on new arrival Ezri Konsa, who Arteta confirmed is fit and in contention to make his Arsenal debut fittingly, against the very club he left to join the Gunners.
The update was less encouraging for two of Arsenal's defensive stalwarts. Jurrien Timber continues his gradual return to full training, having now spent three consecutive weeks working outdoors, with his workload being steadily increased.
William Saliba, however, remains some way off, with Arteta describing the Frenchman as still in "conservative load management," suggesting his comeback could take considerably longer.
With squad depth being tested early in the campaign, how much of a gamble should Arteta take by rushing key players back before they're fully ready?
