Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has released a heartfelt public apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie, following a high-profile legal dispute that led to her brief imprisonment. In a video message shared on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Okorie expressed deep remorse for her past social media outbursts and "cyberbullying" accusations, addressing the message directly to Mercy, her children, and her husband. This public olive branch comes just days after Okorie was released from the Suleja Correctional Centre on a ₦5 million bail.

The legal saga began on January 27, 2026, when Okorie was arrested at her Lagos residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre. Following her arraignment on charges of cyberstalking and defamation, she was remanded in prison before being granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja. The conflict was rooted in long-standing friction, with Okorie previously making controversial claims about Johnson’s health and personal character, which Johnson eventually met with legal action to protect her family.

In her apology, Okorie admitted to being influenced by "cheap gossip" and industry "third parties" who fueled the animosity between them. She specifically recanted her previous hurtful labels, stating firmly, "You are not a witch," and acknowledged that as they grow older, such drama should have no place in their lives. She emphasized that her primary focus now is on her business and maintaining peace, especially for the sake of their children who might one day cross paths and become friends.

Okorie also revealed that she and Mercy Johnson have already spoken privately over the phone to resolve their differences. By declaring a "new beginning," she promised to never again listen to negative reports about her colleague and expressed her desire to move forward as friends.

Do you think Angela Okorie’s apology is sincere, or is it just a strategic move following her legal troubles? Should Mercy Johnson formally drop all charges now that a public apology has been made? Share your comments below!
