Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has finally addressed the long-standing rumors of a rivalry between her and fellow superstar Genevieve Nnaji. In a recent interview that has gone viral, the actress dismissed the idea of a "feud," explaining that while the media often pits them against each other, the reality is simply a professional relationship rather than a deep personal bond. She emphasized that the lack of a close friendship should not be mistaken for animosity.
Omotola noted that the industry is large enough for everyone to thrive and that she has always respected Genevieve’s work and contributions to African cinema. She pointed out that in any professional field, colleagues do not necessarily have to be "best friends" to coexist or respect one another. According to her, the perceived "war" was largely a creation of fans and the press during the peak of their careers in the early 2000s.
“We are colleagues,” Omotola stated during the session. “I think people just have this idea that we must be best friends. We don't need to be best friends to work together or respect each other. We are two different people with different paths, and that is perfectly okay.”
The actress further revealed that whenever they do meet, they interact cordially and with mutual respect. By speaking out, Omotola hopes to put to rest decades of speculation regarding their supposed "silent war."
