Akpabio Mocks PDP's Survival, Urges FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to Let the Party "Die Totally"

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has taken a heavy jab at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), mockingly stating that he thought the main opposition party was already dead and buried. Speaking during a reception organized in Abuja to honor the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Akpabio jokingly urged the former Rivers State governor to stop trying to revive the political platform and instead let it die completely.
Akpabio, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pointed out that Wike's continued struggles and political presence within the PDP were the only things keeping the opposition party afloat. He teased the minister, who remains a polarizing figure inside the PDP due to his alliance with the APC-led federal government, suggesting that pulling the plug on the party would finally put it out of its misery.
"I didn't even know that the PDP still exists," Akpabio remarked amidst laughter from the audience. "I thought the party had gone under long ago. My brother Wike, please just allow the party to die totally so we can all move forward."
While the comments were delivered with humor, they highlight the intense, ongoing internal crisis within the PDP as political stakeholders across the country keep a close watch on how the party repositions itself ahead of future electoral cycles.
What do you think about Senate President Akpabio’s remarks on the status of the PDP, and Wike's unique position in Nigeria's political landscape? Drop your comments below!
