ADC Chieftain Ayuba Umar

A prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State, Hon. Ayuba Umar, has officially announced his withdrawal from the 2027 governorship race. Umar, who was previously seen as a strong contender to succeed the current administration, explained that his move to step down was taken after deep personal reflection and extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and key stakeholders across the state.

Despite bowing out of the contest, the ADC chieftain clarified that he is not leaving politics or abandoning his supporters. He noted that his primary goal remains the progress and development of Nasarawa State, and he believes he can still contribute to the state’s growth without being the governor. Umar thanked his loyal followers who had already started mobilizing for his campaign, urging them to remain calm and stay committed to the party's ideals as they look toward the 2027 general elections.

While Umar did not immediately endorse any other candidate, he promised to continue working with the ADC to ensure the party remains a strong alternative for the people. His exit is expected to trigger new alignments within the opposition as other aspirants begin to struggle for the support of his political structure ahead of the primaries.
