2027: ‘Tinubu, Shettima are What the Prophet Warned Muslims Against’ — Adebayo
Omoyeni Olabode

Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has launched a fierce criticism against President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, framing their leadership as a direct contradiction of Islamic principles. Speaking ahead of the 2027 general elections, Adebayo argued that the current administration's economic policies have inflicted severe hardship on Nigerians, violating the ethical standards of leadership outlined in Islam.
Adebayo made these remarks while addressing the ongoing economic struggles in the country, pointing specifically to soaring inflation, high energy costs, and widespread poverty. He asserted that the Muslim-Muslim ticket, which was heavily promoted during the 2023 campaign as a unifying force for the Islamic community, has failed to deliver the compassionate governance expected of leaders under the faith.
"Tinubu and Shettima represent exactly what Prophet Muhammad (SAW) warned Muslims against when he spoke about leaders who would emerge and make life difficult for their people. They used the Muslim-Muslim ticket to emotionalize the electorate, but their policies have shown no mercy or consideration for the poor, which is the core of Islamic leadership."
