The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has taken a definitive step forward ahead of the 2027 general elections as its officially confirmed governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, formally received his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form. At a ceremony held in Ibadan on Thursday, July 2, 2026, the lawmaker also laid all internal party speculation to rest by unveiling 46-year-old Economics graduate Mr. Adesoji Michael Adedeji as his running mate.

The presentation of the official ticket by the APC Deputy National Auditor, Gbenga Olayemi, puts an end to weeks of intense intra-party friction following the highly contested governorship primaries. While state party leaders, including the Oyo State APC Chairman and former Deputy Governor Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, hailed the ticket as a collective triumph for the entire party, the conspicuous absence of several influential heavyweights—such as Ambassador Florence Ajimobi, Senator Teslim Folarin, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and Senator Fatai Buhari—highlighted that reconciliation efforts within the fractured state chapter remain ongoing. Adeyemo strongly appealed to all aggrieved members to lay down their grievances, emphasizing that the party stands a far better chance of reclaiming the state from the opposition if they unite behind the chosen flagbearers.

Accepting the nomination form, Senator Alli, who currently represents the Oyo South Senatorial District, extended an olive branch to his fellow primary contenders. He promised to pilot the affairs of the campaign and a future administration with absolute accountability, inclusiveness, and fairness. His running mate, Adedeji, hails from Iwo-Ate in the Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area, a strategic geopolitical pick intended to consolidate the party's cross-regional support as they gear up for the upcoming gubernatorial battlefield in 2027.
