Say YES to GOD Part 3
There are many things we often say YES to in life hence our commitment and absolute loyalty to God must not be handled with levity. There is a programme on TLC Sky Channel called Say YES to the Dress. That is making reference to “wedding dress” which my wife and I both watch sometimes if we have the opportunity to do so.
We have examples of many people in the Bible who said YES to God though in most cases they had to look beyond their own personal comfort or self-glory to say yes to God. Esther said yes, even though it could’ve cost her very life (by going before the king to stop her people from being annihilated). Abraham in Genesis 22 said yes when he was told to sacrifice his promised son. Joshua said yes when he was chosen for a major task to lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land. Mary said yes to supernaturally carry the Savior of the world. And ultimately, Jesus Christ also said yes to die an excruciating death on a cross for you and me (and countless others).
It is clear from the examples above that it was hard and scary for all of them to say a wholehearted yes right up front. Yet, at the end of the day, they all led exemplary lives that eventually led to, “Not my will, Lord. But your will be done.” (Luke 22:42).
Isaiah 6:8 – And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Revelation 16:7 – And I heard the altar saying, “Yes, Lord God the Almighty, true and just are your judgments!”
Acts 26:19–20 – Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.

We examined the word OBEDIENCE yesterday; hence it is important to closely examine the word WILLING today. Being willing to do a thing is being in agreement with that thing. Willingness is giving consent to a particular thing. In today’s study, we are discussing willingness of an individual to agree with a law or laws of the Universe

God’s commands are designed to guide you to life’s very best. You will not obey Him, if you do not believe Him and trust Him. You cannot believe Him if you do not love Him. You cannot love Him unless you know Him. – Henry Blackaby
