Wolfsburg Sack Coach Bauer Amid Relegation Battle

German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg have dismissed head coach Daniel Bauer as the team battles to avoid relegation from the top flight.
The decision came after Wolfsburg’s 2–1 home defeat to Hamburg, which left the club second from bottom in the Bundesliga table and in serious danger of dropping out of the league.
Bauer had taken over initially on an interim basis after Paul Simonis was sacked in November and was later appointed permanently in December. However, the team’s poor run of results continued, with just two points from their last eight matches before his dismissal.
Reports indicate that veteran German coach Dieter Hecking, who previously led Wolfsburg to the 2015 German Cup title, is expected to take charge in an attempt to steer the club away from relegation.
