CAF Reschedules 2026 WAFCON Tournament to July

CAF, WAFCON 2026, July

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, shifting the tournament from its original March dates to July 25 to August 16, 2026.

CAF confirmed the decision in a statement on Thursday after consultations with FIFA and other stakeholders involved in organising the competition.

The tournament had initially been scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026, but the continental football body said the rescheduling was necessary to ensure the successful organisation of the event.

Morocco will still host the competition, having secured the hosting rights in October 2024, and preparations are expected to continue ahead of the new dates.

The postponement means teams, including Nigeria’s Super Falcons, will have to wait several more months to compete for the continental title in the 16-team tournament.
