US Congressman Tells Ribadu-Led Nigerian Delegation That Trump “Does Not Make Idle Threats”

U.S. Representative Riley M. Moore met with a high-level Nigerian delegation in Washington, D.C., on November 19, including Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, and other senior security officials.
Moore said the meeting allowed for “a frank, honest, and productive discussion” on Christian persecution and terrorism in Nigeria. He called on Nigeria to show “tangible steps” to protect Christian communities, warning that the U.S. expects to see measurable progress.
Addressing former President Donald Trump’s pointed criticisms of Nigeria’s security situation, Moore insisted that Trump “does not make empty, idle threats.” He added that Trump and Congress are “united and serious” about ending violence targeting Christians and working to dismantle terror groups in Nigeria.
Moore said the U.S. “stands ready to coordinate and cooperate with Nigeria” on counterterrorism and protecting vulnerable communities.
What do you think? Is this just diplomatic pressure, or could this push Nigeria to act more decisively on insecurity and religious violence? Share your thoughts in the comments.
