In a bold move, President Donald Trump has declared his intention to bring a swift end to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, the President announced the creation of a "Board of Peace," a dedicated body designed to facilitate negotiations and settle the conflict "pretty soon."

Trump, who has frequently claimed he could end the war within 24 hours if given the chance, used the Davos platform to signal a more formal diplomatic offensive. While he did not provide specific details on the members of the board or the exact terms he would propose to either side, he emphasized that his administration would take a "business-like" approach to global diplomacy.

"We are going to have peace, and we are going to have it pretty soon," Trump told reporters. "The Board of Peace will be made up of the best negotiators in the world. We’re going to stop the killing and we’re going to get it settled."

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, also present at Davos, stressed the importance of a "just and lasting peace" that respects Ukraine’s sovereignty, while other leaders questioned how the "Board of Peace" would integrate with existing international peace frameworks. Despite the lack of a concrete roadmap, Trump’s declaration has immediately shifted the focus of the summit toward the possibility of a negotiated settlement in the coming months.

Do you think a "Board of Peace" led by negotiators can finally end the conflict, or is it just another political headline? Share your comments below!
