United States President Donald Trump launched a public attack on the 2026 Grammy Awards and its host, comedian and television personality Trevor Noah, following a joke made during the live broadcast of the awards ceremony. The controversy emerged after Noah, while presenting the Song of the Year award at the Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, made a joke referencing Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Trump responded later on social media, calling the Grammy Awards “virtually unwatchable” and sharply criticizing Noah’s remarks.

During his opening monologue at the Grammys, Trevor Noah congratulated singer Billie Eilish on winning Song of the Year and added a humorous aside. He said the award was desired by artists almost as much as “Trump wants Greenland,” then quipped that since Epstein’s private island was gone, Trump needed a new one to “hang out with Bill Clinton.” The comment drew audible reactions from the audience. Noah also made other satirical comments throughout the ceremony, marking his sixth and final year hosting the event.

Trump took to his Truth Social platform after the broadcast to directly address Noah’s joke. In his post, Trump denied ever having visited Epstein’s private island, saying he had “never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close” and stated he had “never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media.” He described Noah as “a total loser,” “poor,” and “talentless,” and warned that he would be sending his lawyers after the comedian for “plenty” in damages. Trump also used the post to criticize CBS, which broadcast the awards, and to declare that the Grammys were among the “worst” award shows.

As of now, no formal lawsuit has been filed against Trevor Noah, and Noah has not publicly responded to Trump’s threat.
