‘Tinubu’s boys have been eyeing NMDPRA, NUPRC positions’ – Sambo
Omoyeni Olabode

Sumner Sambo, Director of News at Arise News, has claimed that political operatives aligned with President Bola Tinubu are positioning themselves to take control of leadership roles at Nigeria’s petroleum regulatory agencies, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. Sambo’s comments come amid ongoing leadership changes at these key agencies as Tinubu seeks Senate confirmation of new chief executives following the resignations of their former bosses.
The NMDPRA and NUPRC have been at the centre of national attention after the resignations of Farouk Ahmed and Gbenga Komolafe, which followed public controversies involving allegations of corruption and regulatory disputes. President Tinubu has moved to nominate industry veterans Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan for NUPRC and Saidu Aliyu Mohammed for NMDPRA, urging the Senate to confirm them quickly. Both nominees have extensive experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
