Tinubu Hails Security’s Response as Kebbi Schoolgirls Are Rescued

Bola Tinubu has praised Nigeria’s security forces for their swift response in the rescue of 24 schoolgirls abducted from a boarding school in Maga, Kebbi State on November 17, 2025. He welcomed the safe return of the girls and congratulated all agencies involved in the operation for their efforts.

In his statement, Tinubu directed security agencies to “put more boots on the ground in vulnerable areas” and pledged that his government will provide all necessary support to ensure safety and prevent future kidnappings. He also reiterated the urgency of intensified patrols and enhanced security measures to protect students and communities across the country.

Ractions from civil society and regional groups have been largely positive, with many commending the coordinated rescue operation and quick government response. Local and state authorities described the rescue without ransom payment as a sign of commitment by security agencies to uphold citizens’ safety.

This event raises important questions about the sustainability of such security efforts. Will increased ground presence and support from the government be enough to deter future kidnappings? How can communities partner more effectively with security forces to protect schools? Share your thoughts in the comments.
