Shettima Issues Strong Warning Ahead of 2027 Presidential Contest

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has openly declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains politically untouchable ahead of the 2027 general election, using unusually blunt language to dismiss potential challengers. Speaking during a recent political gathering, Shettima left little room for ambiguity about the ruling party’s confidence in Tinubu’s re election prospects and the stance of the All Progressives Congress on internal or external opposition.
In his words, Shettima said, “Only a fool, hell bent on a suicidal path, or an outright imposter can dare to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.” The vice president stated that Tinubu’s political experience, electoral pedigree, and control of party structures place him in a commanding position ahead of the next presidential poll. His remarks were framed as both a warning and a declaration of loyalty to the president.
Shettima also pointed to ongoing economic reforms, infrastructure initiatives, and security strategies under the Tinubu administration as evidence that the government remains focused on governance rather than early campaign distractions. According to him, the administration believes its record will speak strongly to voters when the time comes, and that the APC remains solidly aligned behind the president’s leadership.
