Corps Member Missing in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has declared a 24-year-old corps member, Levi Anyanwu, missing. Anyanwu, serving at the Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama, was last seen on October 8, 2025.

Police spokesman Musa Mohammed said the Anti-Kidnapping Unit has launched an investigation. Anyanwu was reportedly last with fellow worshippers before he disappeared after receiving treatment at a hospital.

Detectives also uncovered an extortion scheme where two inmates from the Igbara Correctional Centre in Ogun State posed as kidnappers and collected ₦100,000 from the victim’s father.

The police ruled out kidnapping, saying investigations revealed personal and religious factors may be linked to the disappearance. Efforts to trace him are ongoing.
