Peggy Ovire Rejects Taye Arimoro’s ₦100 Million Demand, Calls Allegations False

Peggy Ovire has firmly denied the claims made by fellow actor Taye Arimoro after he demanded ₦100 million in damages, accusing her of assault on a movie set. According to a statement from her legal team, Arimoro’s account of the incident is “misleading, selective, and materially false.”
According to Ovire’s side, the altercation occurred after Arimoro reportedly became aggressive, assaulted members of the production crew, and head‑butted her driver, who allegedly sustained injuries. She and her lawyers claim that the only physical contact initiated by her was a light push when he reportedly attempted to deflate her tyres. Witness statements collected by the police reportedly support her version of events.
Her legal team described the ₦100 million demand as legally premature and ethically questionable, noting that investigations by both the police and the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) are still ongoing. They warned that should Arimoro continue to propagate what they described as false allegations, they might initiate counter‑lawsuits for assault, defamation, and disruption of production.
The dispute has sparked widespread debate about professionalism, rights, and conduct on film sets, particularly in the Nollywood industry. What do you think — should there be stricter guidelines and oversight on set to prevent such conflicts, or is this an isolated case? Share your thoughts in the comments.
