Pay Mbappe €60m of Unpaid Wages, French Court Orders PSG

A French court has ordered Paris Saint Germain to pay Kylian Mbappe €60 million in unpaid wages following a legal dispute between the club and the player. The ruling relates to salary and bonus payments the France captain claims were withheld during the final months of his contract before he left PSG. The decision represents a major legal setback for the Ligue 1 champions and confirms that the court found Mbappe’s claims to be valid under French labour law.

According to court findings, the unpaid sum covers outstanding salaries, bonuses, and other contractual entitlements accrued during Mbappe’s final season at the club. The dispute emerged after PSG allegedly stopped paying parts of his wages following disagreements over his contract situation and refusal to trigger an extension clause. Mbappe maintained that his contract remained legally binding until its expiration and that the club had no right to withhold agreed payments.

PSG argued that internal agreements and disciplinary measures justified the wage freeze, but the court rejected that position. The ruling emphasised that employment contracts in professional football are subject to the same legal standards as other employment agreements, regardless of internal club disputes. The court ordered PSG to settle the full amount, reinforcing player protections and contractual enforcement within French football.
