Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has pledged support to Nigerian Breweries Plc following a fire outbreak that affected one of its facilities in Aba.
The governor made the commitment during an inspection visit to the site of the incident, where he assessed the extent of damage and commiserated with the company’s management over the losses recorded.
Otti expressed relief that no lives were lost in the incident, noting that the fire, which broke out in an open space linked to the company, was swiftly contained through the coordinated efforts of emergency responders.
He commended the prompt response of the Abia State Fire Service and other agencies, describing their intervention as timely and effective in preventing the spread of the fire to critical infrastructure.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing a conducive business environment, assuring Nigerian Breweries of continued government support to aid recovery and ensure uninterrupted operations.
Officials of the company disclosed that the fire affected empty crates in a leased area and did not impact the main brewing plant, while investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
The incident shows the importance of emergency preparedness and safety measures, as authorities continue to monitor developments and support affected stakeholders.
