The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Brigadier General Oseni O. Braimah, describing him as a symbol of sacrifice and patriotism.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday, the governor said the late military officer’s death was a painful loss not only to Edo State but to the entire nation. He noted that Braimah was a proud son of the state who gave his life in service to Nigeria.

Okpebholo praised the general’s courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to national unity, emphasising that he remained devoted to duty until his final moments. He added that Braimah’s life exemplified the values of dedication and patriotism that continue to sustain the country.

The governor further stated that while the loss is deeply felt across the Nigerian Armed Forces and beyond, there is pride in the legacy of service the late officer leaves behind. He extended condolences to the bereaved family, the military, and all affected by the tragedy, urging them to find strength in his honourable life.

Brigadier General Braimah was reportedly killed during a terrorist attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. The assault targeted the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai, with reports indicating that insurgents overran parts of the facility and destroyed military assets.

The incident has once again highlighted the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria’s North-East, even as tributes continue to pour in for the fallen officer.
