Northern Youths, Tinubu Reforms

Youths from Nigeria’s 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) gathered in Kaduna this week to evaluate and commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policy reforms as the country approaches the 2027 general elections. The event was organized by the Arewa Political Awareness Movement (APAM) with the aim of informing citizens about the federal government’s achievements across key sectors.

At the Kaduna forum, APAM convener Jabir Usman highlighted several areas where the current administration has made progress. These include expanded access to education through the National Education Loan Fund, improvements in health services with the revitalisation of emergency medical systems, and enhancements in agricultural funding meant to boost food production and diversify the economy. Usman also cited the establishment of new federal universities in several northern states and the rollout of the “3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme” to equip youths with digital skills.

On security, participants pointed to strengthened coordination among military, police, and intelligence units under a unified national strategy, contributing to improved stability in parts of the North. Economic measures such as monetary policy adjustments and reforms to local government autonomy were also mentioned as steps towards boosting business, investment, and youth employment.

Senior advisers at the event encouraged young people to participate actively in governance, stressing the importance of voter registration and civic engagement as part of shaping Nigeria’s future.

The gathering reflects a segment of northern youth expressing optimism about the government’s direction and its impact on everyday life as discussions around the 2027 polls continue.
