Nollywood Director Stanley Amandi Arrested Over Alleged Coup Plot

Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Amandi has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to assassinate President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other top officials. Amandi, the former Enugu State chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), is accused of working with military officers to provide media and propaganda support for a forceful takeover.
The Defence Headquarters confirmed that investigations are complete, identifying Amandi as a civilian collaborator in the high-stakes plot. These findings have led to the detention of several suspects pending formal legal proceedings.
Amandi now faces grave charges of treason and conspiracy, which carry the most severe penalties under Nigerian law. The case is expected to be handled through a military tribunal or a high court to address the threat to the state.
Should the government provide more transparency by releasing specific evidence against Amandi now? Does this arrest change your perception of political stability in Nigeria? Share your comments below!
