A shocking report has emerged that a student of the Nigerian Law School (Yola Campus), identified as Ayomiposi Ojajuni, died by suicide after being disqualified from taking the Bar Final examination. According to multiple sources, Ojajuni, a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, became distressed on the morning of Saturday, December 6, 2025, when he learnt that he was barred from sitting for the exam scheduled to begin that day. His disqualification reportedly followed disciplinary proceedings and failure to meet required conditions.
Campus insiders claim the student was among those denied the exam for failing to meet the minimum attendance requirement of 75 percent, a rule for eligibility. The exclusion, officials say, was part of disciplinary measures previously instituted against him.
Eyewitness accounts and reports suggest that shortly after learning the news, Ojajuni ingested a harmful substance. He was rushed to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola but was pronounced dead on Sunday morning.
The incident has triggered outrage and concern about student welfare and mental-health support in institutions like the Nigerian Law School. The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the incident, and many are calling for reforms to disciplinary and support systems for students under extreme academic pressure.
What reforms do you think are necessary to support students under pressure and prevent tragedies like this in educational institutions? Comment below and share your thoughts.
