Igbo Community

The Igbo community, under the umbrella of the South-East Revival Group (SERG), has declared that it will not tolerate a repeat of the irregularities witnessed during the 2023 general elections. In a strong statement released on Friday, the group expressed deep dissatisfaction with how the previous polls were handled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The leadership of the group noted that the 2023 elections were marred by technical failures and a lack of transparency that left many voters feeling cheated. As the 2027 elections approach, they are demanding a complete overhaul of the system to ensure that every vote counts.

The group emphasized that the South-East region has remained patient despite the various challenges faced during the last voting cycle. However, they warned that this patience should not be taken for weakness as the country prepares for another political transition. According to the statement, the Igbo community is now more organized and determined to protect the sanctity of the ballot box. They called on the Federal Government and international observers to pay close attention to the electoral process from the early stages to prevent any manipulation of results. The group believes that Nigeria can only move forward if the people are allowed to freely choose their leaders.

In addition to calling for better election management, the group urged all eligible voters in the South-East to ensure their permanent voter cards are ready. They stressed that active participation is the only way to demand better governance and accountability from those in power.

The South-East Revival Group noted that a fair election is essential for the peace and unity of Nigeria. They insisted that the era of "business as usual" in the country's politics must come to an end if the nation truly wants to develop. As the conversation around the next election heats up, the group promised to continue sensitizing their people on the importance of standing against any form of intimidation or fraud. The focus remains on ensuring that the will of the people is reflected in the final outcome of the 2027 polls.
