NDLEA Busts Lagos Drug Warehouse, Recovers N6.7 Billion Worth of Opioids

NDLEA operatives dismantled a major drug cartel in Lagos and seized illicit opioids with a total street value of about ₦6.7 billion.
The haul included 7,272,000 pills of tramadol 225 mg and roughly 53 million millilitres of codeine syrup — stored at a warehouse located at 23 Sunny Billa East Street, Bucknor, Isheri, Isolo.
Arrests were made between 19 and 20 November 2025. In all, the suspected cartel leader, Onyekachi Pius Nwanagu, and five associates were taken into custody. Among the first arrested were two members — Egbo Innocent Udalor and Chukwe Emmanuel — who were intercepted while transporting 300 cartons of the opioids.
Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, described the operation as a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking. He stressed that targeting kingpins, not just couriers, remains a priority for the agency.
