Legal Clash: Mayowa Lambe Demands N100 Million from Roby Ekpo Over Alleged Defamation

Mayowa Lambe

The legal battle lines have been drawn between two prominent media figures as broadcast journalist Mayowa Lambe officially issued a cease-and-desist notice to Roby Ekpo. In a dramatic escalation of their public dispute, Lambe is demanding a public apology and N100 million in damages for what her legal team describes as defamatory statements that have tarnished her professional reputation.

The notice, served through her lawyers, stems from recent comments made by Ekpo that allegedly portrayed Lambe in a negative light, affecting her standing in the media industry. Beyond the financial compensation, the demand requires Ekpo to immediately retract the "malicious" statements across all platforms where they were published and to cease any further derogatory commentary regarding her person or career.

Legal representatives for Lambe emphasized that while they respect the right to free speech, the line is crossed when statements are made with the intent to damage a person's livelihood and character. As of the time of reporting, Roby Ekpo has not issued an official response to the notice or the hefty financial demand.

Do you think a N100 million demand is a fair deterrent against defamation in the digital age, or are these legal threats becoming a way to silence critics? Share your comments below!
